Some Good Old Check-Raising

We caught the action on the river, but after the hand played out Melanie Weisner was so kind to tell us what went down. Weisner raised under the gun to 500 and got three-bet by an older gentleman three seats to her left. When the action came back to Weisner she decided to make the call for 1,500.

The flop was {10-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} and Weisner check-called 3,000. The turn was the {5-Spades} and Weisner check-called 5,500. On the river the flush completed with the {K-Diamonds} and Weisner check once again. Her opponent bet 5,000 and after tanking for a while Weisner made it 15,625. Instantly her opponent called and Weisner turned over {K-Hearts}{K-Spades}. Her rivered set was the best hand, but her opponent showed that she really needed that king. He played {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}.
